Guijuelo

Guijuelo, the home of the Ibérico ham

We take the greatest care over our hams in our drying room and natural cellars in Guijuelo. This area is surrounded by the mountains of the Unesco Biosphere Reserve of Sierra de Béjar and the Sierra de Gredos mountains, a Regional Reserve that is protected because of its Mediterranean ecosystem. It is the special climate of Guijuelo that makes our curing process so unique compared to other regions.

 

No other place in Spain has such fantastic weather conditions that enable top-quality Ibérico products and meats.

The Mediterranean diet

The Mediterranean diet, included in the Unesco Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2010, highlights the benefits of eating Acorn-fed 100% Ibérico Ham.

 

Acorns have oleic acid, and this is what makes ham such a healthy food. Oleic acid, also found in olive oil, is the main fatty acid in Ibérico products and is extremely beneficial to health as it is a monounsaturated fat that helps regulate our metabolism and cholesterol by boosting the HDL (“good cholesterol”) and reducing the LDL (harmful to our organism), thus preventing heart diseases.

 

Acorn-fed 100% Ibérico ham provides many B-group vitamins, it is rich in iron, magnesium, zinc and calcium but, above all, it has phosphorus, providing 30% of the recommended daily intake.
